In September, Alec and Maria had the privilege of attending Generations Working Together’s Scottish Intergenerational Conference and Excellence Awards Celebration in Inverness. The conference was well attended with intergenerational practitioners from all over Scotland, and we were inspired by presentations on topics such as ‘Our Vision for an Intergenerational Scotland’, ‘Reconnecting Generations for A Fairer Scotland’, and ‘Why is Volunteering Important?’ Thought-provoking and very relevant to intergenerational practice in Scotland today.

There was a range of interactive workshops for the delegates to choose from, including ‘Developing sustainable intergenerational work’, ‘Developing intergenerational volunteering’ and ‘Using an intergenerational approach to support climate action’. These workshops provided an invaluable opportunity to discuss important topics with like-minded people.

 The highlight of the day was the presentation of Generations Working Together’s Excellence Awards 2025. The five categories were:

*Confronting Age Discrimination and Stereotypes Award

*Valuing Generational Diversity and Inclusion Award

*Evaluating Impact Award

*Encouraging Reciprocal Learning Award

*Intergenerational Workplace Award

Congratulations to all award winners and those who received a Highly Commended award. It was wonderfully inspiring hearing about all the fantastic projects that had been nominated for an award, and everyone was a winner in our eyes!

We were absolutely delighted to receive the Highly Commended award for Evaluating Impact. Our entry was based on all our Intergenerational Projects, and focused on how we measure the impact of our work. It was an honour to receive this award, and we are grateful to Generations Working Together for this opportunity. Thank-you!
