What People Think

Your voice matters to us. We have been fortunate enough to work with people who are just as passionate as we are, from all generations and walks of life.

From volunteers, youth mentors, to teachers and representatives of local councils, we’re proud to shout about their experience with ACE Voices.

Lily MacDonald 2011 - Present

Participant, Youth and Student Leader, and Research Intern

The compassionate approach ACE Voices takes to every activity and person it engages with is something I will always be grateful for and proud of. I hope to one day make as much of a positive impact on someone’s life as Alec has on mine.

I just want to say, genuinely, the BIGGEST thank you ever for literally everything you do for me! You've given me so many opportunities and helped me grow so much as a person. I've had so much fun getting to do various activities, whether it's music or outdoors, and I've met so many incredible people. Thank you so much for having faith in me and letting me be a part of so many amazing things.

Natalia 2014 - 2019

School Pupil, Choir Member and Intergenerational Group Member

I learnt at Kingswood that not just our lives matter, but that old people have feelings. And I grew my confidence with talking to people.

Allison Horne 2009 – Present

Former HT at Abbotswell Primary and now QIO

It is truly inspirational to watch how pupil confidence develops through his activities. Often, children are removed from their comfort zone, undertaking tasks for which they would not ordinarily volunteer!

Sandra 2017 - 2020

School PSA and Adult Helper with Local Intergenerational Projects

Our children arrived quiet and shy and left Kingswood enriched and full of self-confidence. They were truly a credit to themselves, their parents and their school. On a personal note, this project has been one of the most enriching experiences of my life.

Emma 2010 - 2016

School Pupil, Youth and Student Leader

What really inspires me is that you never give up on a child. It would be too easy to just send a difficult child out of the room, but you work hard on their behaviour while also making them feel like part of the group, whilst getting the best out of them.

The music makes me feel happy inside.

Are the kiddies coming? Yes, they're coming! That's what I come here for. I love it when the kiddies come.

Are you singing today? Is Neil Diamond here today? I wouldn't come if it wasn't happening.

The kiddies are here! That's all fine, fine, fine. I love them all.

If it wasn't for you all coming to entertain us, I don't know what we'd do. (To friend) I hope you appreciate it as much as I do.

ACE has been such a massive part of my life, and you've been a great role model for me growing up, encouraging me to be myself and never be ashamed to speak my mind on issues that matter.

Happy Birthday, ACE. I remember the early days. It was a privilege to support you and contribute to such a worthy project

Valerie Kemp 2011-2012

Co-founder of Airyhall Choral Ensemble (Origin of the 'ACE' part of our name)

Talking of the ACE ethos, I thought that the reformulated vision statement was nothing short of inspirational. What a joy to see enthusiasm encapsulated in a document. I do a lot of reading, but nothing has got me as excited as that in a long time!! It sounds as if ACE, with you at its helm, is going places and will serve as a model for the future.

Louise 2011 - 2025

Participant/Youth Leader

I was just a shy nursery child, but ACE helped transform me, and one day I want to pass the magic of music on. That’s why I want to be a music teacher.
